What are behavioural insights and how can we use them to improve access to good food? Beyond nudges to shift individual consumption patterns, how can behavioural insights be employed to influence policy or businesses?

In this webinar we’ll explore the questions above to see how people and programmes working to improve food systems are using behavioural insights in practice. Jessie Barker from the Behavioural Insights Team will introduce the concept of behavioural insights and how they can be applied individually, in policy or business. We’ll then hear from Amber Wheeler (Food Foundation) on how this has been applied to increase consumption of vegetables in the UK through the Peas Please programme, as well as Ruth Westcott (Sustain) on influencing catering companies to commit to serving only certified sustainable fish through Sustainable Fish Cities.

Join us as we launch our new toolkit for food alliances on empowering people to tell their story and shape solutions for tackling food poverty. What have we learnt over the last two years of involving those with lived experience of food poverty? And what do alliances need to consider when empowering those at a grassroots level?

Ben Pearson, Food Power's Empowerment Officer will introduce the toolkit, followed by Lisa Howard at Food Plymouth, Hannah Fenton at Good Food Oxford and a representative from Blackburn with Darwen Food Alliance reflecting on what impact empowering people has had on shaping solutions for tackling food poverty within their local alliances, and what advice they would give to those wanting to involve grassroots people.
